Iraq’s anti-occupation Tribal Chieftains Council convenes in Libya

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq‘s Anti-Occupation Tribal Chieftains Council has held its third conference in the Libyan capital of Tripoli in the past two days, according to a statement by the Council on Tuesday. “The two-day Conference, was held under slogan: “No for the occupation, its projects..No for sectarianism and division,” in the Libyan Capital, Tripoli, for two days – 14-15 February, 2011, with the presence of the Council’s Chairman, Sheikh Ahmed al-Ghanim and leaders of the Council’s bureaus in different Iraqi Provinces,” the statement said. It stressed that the conference “had studied the political situation on the local, Arab and international levels, as well as the  organizational and mobilizations issues of the conference’s activity, its frameworks and forthcoming elections.” Noteworthy is that the Council of Iraq‘s Tribal Chieftains has announced its “position against the American occupation and its repercussions in Iraq,” led by Sheikh Ahmed al-Ghanim.
