Life back to normal in Baghdad after mass demonstrations:

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Life has returned to normal in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on Saturday, following the lifting of the curfew imposed by the government on the movement of cars and bykes, in the ftermath of huge demonstrations that took place in central Baghdad‘s al-Tahrir (Liberation) square over the past 48 hours. Baghdad had witnessed broad mass demonstrations in al-Tahrir square, during which 7 policemen have been injured by stone-throwing men, whilst at least two of the demonstrators have been injured, according to security  fources. IraqiNews.com’s correspondent in Baghdad said he had witnessed the return of the movement to normal in all streets and districts, whilst shopkeepers reopened their shops, close to al-Tahrir square and surrounding areas, but for al-Jumhuriya Bridge, connecting both sides of the city, including one of the entrances of west Baghdad‘s Green Zone, where leading Iraqi government offices, parliament and the U.S. and British Embassies exist. The Baghdad Operations Command (BOC) has announced early in the day that the demonstrations in al-Tahrir Square had ended, following the raising of the demands of  the demonstrators to the government, through its representavies. Meanwhile, Iraq’s Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, had said on Saturday that he had been following the demands of the citizens, in order to achieve all issues under his responsibility as Prime Minister, along with following up the activity of the central and provincial governments, committing them to implement the demands of the citizens, vowing to investigate all violations that took place in certain areas during the demonstrations.
