Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, and the French President, Emmanuel Macron, agreed on Sunday on the significance of trying to achieve a quick ceasefire in Gaza.

A statement issued by the Iraqi government mentioned that Al-Sudani received a phone call from Macron where they talked about the recent developments in the region, the Israeli aggression against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and the need to find a quick solution to the ongoing conflict.

The two leaders emphasized that the continuous escalation in Gaza will have a serious impact on security both regionally and internationally.

Both sides also agreed that they should keep working together to contain the conflict and reach comprehensive and just solutions.

Al-Sudani said that the current crisis did not start on October 7 but rather dates back to decades of non-compliance with international laws by the Israeli occupation authorities detaining Palestinians in Gaza, causing them to feel injustice and completely oppressed.

The French president emphasized the need for strong measures to prevent the conflict from expanding and help civilians avoid its consequences.

The statement also reaffirmed that both sides agreed to create access points for the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza’s besieged people to alleviate their suffering.
