Iraq’s Deputy PM confers with U.S. Consul on development of country’s agriculture

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq‘s Deputy Prime Minister, Saleh al-Mutlaq, has conferred in Baghdad on Thursday with the U.S. Embassy’s Agricultural Consul and his accompanying delegation, means of developing the agricultural sector in the country, according to a statement by the Deputy Prime Minister’s office. “Both sides have held a meeting that concentrated on means of developing of the agricultural sector and to find solutions for the problems of peasants in Iraq, along with the activation of the Agricultural Memo, concluded between the Iraqi and the U.S. governments, being part of the Strategic Agreement, concluded between both countries,” the statement pointed out. “The meeting had also discussed possibility for opening new  horizons for cooperation between Baghdad and Washington in the fields of agricultural mechanisation and guidance, as well as the use of modern means for irrigating agricultural areas and the development of technical and engineering expertise for the Iraqi cadres working in the agricultural sector,” the statement added.
