Political parties should implement elections commitments – MP

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A legislature from north Iraq‘s Kurdistan Alliance has demanded that different Iraqi political forces implement the commitments they made during the last parliamentary elections campaign and seriously strive towards granting necessary services for Iraqi citizens. “The Iraqi people have said their word during the elections which reaffirmed the success of the democratic process in Iraq, despite the difficult circumstances they suffered from. Political forces have to implement the commitments they made during the parliamentary elections and to strive seriously to achieve services for citizens, as part of those commitments,” Mahama Khalil told IraqiNews.com news agency on Monday. Khalil called on those political forces to “exert pressure on the government to achieve whatever services the Iraqi citizens need.” “The current crisis, reflected in demonstrations and protests in some Arab countries are due to lack of economic reforms and absence of basic services granted to citizens. The Iraqi government is demanded to respond to the demands of the Iraqi people and implement them in the shortest possible time,” Khalil added. A number of Arab countries have witnessed a series of demonstrations, including those that that sacked the former regime in Tunisia and demanded the changing of Hosni Mubarak‘s regime in Egypt.
