Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The United States called on Iraq on Tuesday to pursue the perpetrators of the recent attacks targeting bases housing US and Coalition personnel in Iraq.

The spokesperson of the US Department of State, Matthew Miller, mentioned in a statement that the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, spoke with the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, and welcomed the Iraqi government’s condemnation of the recent attacks and threats to US and Coalition personnel in Iraq.

“The Secretary urged the Prime Minister to pursue those behind the attacks and fulfill Iraq’s commitment to maintain security at these installations,” Miller said.

Miller explained that the two sides talked about the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Both parties expressed commitment to ensuring regional stability and discussed the humanitarian situation in Gaza and ways to ensure sustained and safe access to food, water, medical care, and other assistance required to meet humanitarian needs.

Blinken also conveyed his appreciation to the Prime Minister for Iraq’s efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza, according to Miller.

The US State Secretary and the Iraqi Prime Minister renewed their commitment to continue strengthening the US-Iraq partnership and reaffirmed the principles in the bilateral Strategic Framework Agreement.

In the past week, at least five missile and drone attacks targeted three Iraqi bases housing US forces and forces from the international coalition to combat terrorism.

One of these attacks resulted in minor injuries, according to the US Central Command.

These attacks coincided with the outbreak of war between Israel and Hamas on October 7.

Iraqi armed factions backed by Iran claimed responsibility for most of these attacks.

The United States accused Iran on Monday of actively facilitating attacks on bases housing US military personnel in the Middle East.
