About 2,000 Iraqis returned home from Egypt, Iraqi Airways says:

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The number of Iraqi citizens, who returned home from Egypt till now, had reached more than 2,000 people, due to the disturbances there, an Iraqi Airways source said on Wednesday. “All the Iraqis, who wished to return home from Cairo, have returned home, reaching over 2,000 citizens,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. The Media Director in the Iraqi Ministry of Transportation, Aqil Kawthar, told IraqiNews.com in an early date, that “free transportation had been one of the facilities granted by the Ministry for Iraqis living in Egypt, who wished to return home, being part of the government’s concerns towards Iraqis living abroad,” adding that “the evacuation process took place in coordination with the Iraqi Embassy in Cairo.” “Despite the improvement of the security conditions in Egypt recently, Iraqis who remained there haven’t applied to return home, as the air flights to carry them home have been accomplished, though that there had’nt been any opposite flights from Baghdad to Cairo,” the same source said. The Egyptian authorities have imposed a curfew on Cairo, Alexandria, Suez and other cities on 28/1/2011, cut all means of communication inside Egypt and with the world at large, in response to the huge demonstrations that took place in several Egyptain cities since Dec. 25th last, demanding the “departure” of President Hosni Mubarak, who ruled Egypt for about 30 years.
