2nd highest Ferris wheel in Arab region opened in Zawraa Park
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A Ferris wheel, the second highest in the Arab region, was inaugurated in the al-Zawraa Park in the capital Baghdad in the presence of Iraqi officials. “The project is a good sign to start launching more projects of entertainment for the Iraqi citizens,” Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs Saleh al-Motlak told IraqiNews.com news agency. The ceremony was also attended by Baghdad Mayor Sabir al-Issawi, who told IraqiNews.com that the 60-meters-high wheel, second in height only to the one in Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates, was finalized among others in association with the private sector. Issawi urged the Iraqi government to offer facilities for investors by easing legal procedures so as to lure Iraqi capital abroad. For his part, Ali Ghanim al-Rubaie, the project investor and owner, told IraqiNews.com that the wheel is one of the most modern Italian-origin ones owned by world countries thanks to its quality specifications. “The charge for getting into the $6-million Ferris wheel, which can accommodate up to 240 persons, will be low-cost so that all Iraqis may enjoy it,” Rubaie added.
