Kurdish opposition MP charges Kurdistan ruling parties with failure to respond to demands of demonstrators.

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com – A Legislature, representing northern Iraq ’s Kurdish opposition Goran (Change) Group, has charged the ruling parties in northern Iraq ’s Kurdistan Region, with failure to respond to demands of demonstrators.   “The ruling parties in Kurdistan Region have failed to respond to the demands of demonstrators and began to resort to clear policies aimed at ignoring the anger of the street, the will of the people and distorting facts,” Sardar Abdullah told a news conference in Baghdad on Saturday.   Noteworthy is that northern Iraq’s Sulaimaniya city and areas close to it have witnessed continuous demonstrations over the past three weeks, demanding political reforms, improvement of public services and putting an end for corruption.   The Kurdish opposition blocs in the Parliament, represented by Goran (Change) group, the Kurdistan Islamic Union and the Islamic Group, holding 35 out of the Kurdistan 111 Parliament seats, have announced support for the demonstrators, along with having issued a program for reforms, considering it as the basis to overcome the current crisis in Kurdistan Region.   The demonstrators have expressed dissatisfaction for ignoring their demands to try persons, who they said had been behind killing and wounding a number of demonstrators, along with having failed to take practical steps to achieve political reforms and putting an end for corruption.   Abdullah charged the Kurdistan government with “having taken decisions that would drag the Region and Iraq to a catastrophe.” PT / SKH
