Iraq plans to double grant to encourage immigrants to return to their original home places

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com – Iraq’s Minister of Immigration & Immigrants, Dindar Shafiq Dosky, has said on Monday that his Ministry had been striving to double the government’s grant for immigrants, to encourage them to return to their original home places. “Our Ministry has boosted its efforts to encourage the return of immigrants, through its efforts to double the grant given for them to reach 2.5-3 million Iraqi dinars, from 1 million, for each family,” the Minister said in a statement, copy of which landed in IraqiNews.com news agency. A U.S. dollar equals 1,118 Iraqi dinars approx. The Minister said that the increase had been proposed after the decrease of the percentage of immigrants, who did not wish to return back to their original home places, by 70 percent. “The Ministry shall join efforts to distribute the said grant, through cooperation with local administrations and other ministries, in order to overcome difficulties and obstacles, confronting the immigrants, along with opening employment chances for those who are unemployed among them, in addition to restore the employees, who had lost their jobs, back to their jobs.   SKH (TI)/SR 596
