Iraq’s allocations for social protection cover 980,000 families.

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com – Iraq ’s Minister of Labor & Social Affairs, Nassar al-Rubei, has announced on Wednesday that the allocations for social protection in his country has covered 980,000 Iraqi families, but said that the foreign labor force was one of the basic reasons for unemployment in the country.   “The amount located for the Social Protection Network was 137 billion (b) Iraqi dinars, covering 980,000 families, whilst the number of families raised by the Ministry of Labor & Social Affairs had been one million and 171,000 families,” the Minister told the daily “Al-Bayan” newspaper on Wednesday.   He said that the allocations for the Unemployment Reduction Network had faced a problem, caused by the foreign labor in Iraq , adding that his Ministry “had been striving to fight that issue, despite fact that it had covered different sources entering foreign labor into Iraq .”   “Foreign labor is entering Iraq , under different reasons, such as religious tourism or special vocations, that are incorrect reasons, which necessitates continuous observation and serious legislative measures to prevent such violations and the imposition of large financial penalties on companies that allow foreign labor to enter into Iraq .
