4,500-year-old Iraqi archaeological antique restored from Germany.
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com – An Iraqi archaeological antique, dating back to 4,500 years had been restored from Germany by the Iraqi Ambassador to Germany , a Foreign Ministry statement announced on Wednesday. “The Iraqi Ambassador to Berlin , Dr. Hussein Mahmoud al-Khatib, had received a valuable Iraqi archaeological antique, representing an ancient Sumerian Bronze Axe, dating back to 4,500 years,” the statement said. It added that the antique was handed over to the Iraqi Ambassador by the State Minister for Cultural Affairs of Germany’s Righnland Valse State , during a celebration organized by the German-Romanian Museum in the State. “The Iraqi Ambassador had expressed rejoice for receiving the Sumerian bronze axe, expressing gratitude for the German authorities and the German Foreign Ministry, for their efforts to help Iraq restore its stolen archaeological antiques. The said archaeological antique, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said, was discovered and confiscated by the German police during its offer for sale in the German city of Munich . IT / SKH 483
