Three U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq last February

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Three U.S. soldiers have been killed for non-combat reasons in Iraq last February, raising the total American casualties since the U.S. invasion of the country in 2003 to 4,439, including 9 killed in 2011, according to U.S. Army figures on Tuesday.   The U.S. Army said, in a statement, that an Army corporal was killed in Baghdad , in a non-combat incident on Feb. 15 th , whilst another soldier was killed, also for non-combat reason west in Iraq’s Anbar al-Assad airbase.   A third soldier, on his way to Iraq, the U.S. Army said, was killed in a road accident in a U.S. base in Qatar, also last February.   The U.S. Army also announced that last January had witnessed the death of six American soldiers, including one for non-combat reason and the others in armed clashes in Baghdad , Salahaddin and Mosul areas.   The year 2010, the U.S. Army said, had witnessed the withdrawal of the American combat units from Iraq , according to the security agreement, signed between Iraq and the United States at the end of 2008, which had been the year that witnessed the smallest number of U.S. Army casualties since 2003, being 60 soldiers.   The U.S. Army figures showed the killing of one U.S. soldier in southern Iraq ’s Thi-Qar Province last December, being the smallest number of casualties since 2003.   But November, 2004, remained to be the month that witnessed the largest number of U.S. Army casualties in Iraq , being 137 casualties, since Iraq ’s occupation by the U.S. and Britain in 2003.   RT / SKH 368
