Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring mentioned in its latest report on Monday that 23 earthquakes, including 12 inside Iraq, had been recorded in October.

The Iraqi General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring said that 11 out of the 23 earthquakes took place inside Iran.

The earthquakes measured between 2.3 and 4.4 degrees on the Richter scale, and their focal depths ranged from 5 to 35 kilometers.

The report indicated that the seismic activity in Iraq was clearly concentrated in Diyala governorate in the northeastern part of the country, where five tremors took place.

Two earthquakes were recorded in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah, and one earthquake in each of Nineveh, Kirkuk and Duhok.

The earthquakes in Iran took place in areas near the Iraq-Iran borders.

The seismic activity this month did not cause any casualties or material losses, according to the report.

In September, 36 earthquakes of different magnitudes were recorded, including 11 earthquakes inside Iran and one earthquake in Syria.

Earthquake experts see that the earthquakes recorded in Iraq during September do not constitute any danger because the seismic activity is distributed across several Iraqi cities and not concentrated in one place.
