 Iraqi President meets with Saudi Commerce Minister, businessmen

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Rashid, met on Sunday with the Saudi Minister of Commerce, Majid Al-Qasabi, and a group of Saudi businessmen.

Rashid emphasized the importance of cooperation and coordination between Iraq and Saudi Arabia in the commercial, economic, industrial, energy, and environmental fields, in addition to utilizing the experiences and capabilities of the two countries, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Presidency.

The Iraqi President illustrated that the government developed an important program prioritizing the security and stability of Iraq. He added that the government is determined to curb corruption and move forward with the reform process.

Rashid urged Saudi businessmen to invest in the Iraqi market, indicating that the government facilitates the work of investors and businessmen to encourage them to utilize investment opportunities in Iraq.

The Saudi minister stressed Saudi Arabia’s eagerness to maintain and develop relations between the two countries and to expand the horizons of cooperation to serve common interests, indicating the social and historical ties between the people of the two countries.

Al-Qasabi clarified that businessmen in Saudi Arabia, through the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council, are exerting great efforts to overcome some procedures, pointing out that meetings were held between Iraqi and Saudi businessmen to enhance cooperation between the two sides.

The Saudi official also expressed that he is looking forward to developing trade and creating a true partnership that contributes to the progress and prosperity of the two countries.
