U.S. Embassy condemns in Baghdad attack on Salahaddin Council.

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com – The United States Embassy in Baghdad has strongly condemned the armed attack against the headquarters of Salahaddin Provincial Council on Tuesday.   “We strongly condemn the savage and meaningless attack that took place yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon on the building of Salahaddin Provincial Council, which led to the loss of lives of dozens of innocent citizens, including the Council’s members, Iraqi security forces and journalists, whilst we express deep feelings towards the families and friends of the victims,” the statement said.   The U.S. Embassy’s statement considered the said attack “on an Iraqi institution as an aggressive act against the democracy, that Iraqis have fought to build, and proves once again that the extremists, who lean to violence insist to undermine the stability and sovereignty of democratic Iraq .”   An official Iraqi source had pointed out that the attack, launched by armed men against Salahaddin Council had reached 57 people killed and dozens of others injured.   IT / SKH   504
