Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Communications, Hiyam Al-Yasiri, confirmed on Wednesday that the volume of trade exchange between Iraq and Azerbaijan exceeded $29 million.

Al-Yasiri’s remarks took place during the meetings of the Iraqi-Azerbaijani Joint Committee, according to a statement cited by the state news agency (INA).

The Iraqi Communications Minister headed the Iraqi side during the meetings, and the Azerbaijani side was headed by the Azerbaijani Minister of Transport, Communications, and High Technologies, Rashad Nabiyev.

Al-Yasiri commended the strong relations between the two countries in the economic, scientific, and cultural fields since 2010, which helped boost economic cooperation and increase the volume of trade exchange to more than $29 million in 2022.

The Iraqi Minister of Communications indicated that the increase in trade exchange and cooperation comes in line with the directions of the Iraqi government as it moves towards strengthening the role of the private sector, enhancing investments, and demonstrating openness to countries around the world.

The Iraqi official also noted the participation of Azerbaijani companies in obtaining promising investment opportunities to develop existing projects and moving towards a new horizon of cooperation in new projects in various fields.
