Iraqi Parliament votes with majority on three Vice-President’s posts

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Parliament has cast a majority one-basket vote in its Thursday session on the three candidates for the Iraqi Vice-President’s posts, a Parliament’s Media office source reported.   “The Parliament’s session today (Thursday) has witnessed casting majority votes in one-basket for Adel Abdul-Mahdi, Tareq al-Hashimy and Khudhier al-Khuza’e to hold the Vice-President’s three posts,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency.   Noteworthy is that 70 Parliament Members, representing different political blocs, had demanded the Parliament’s Speaker, Usama al-Nujeify, on 4/4/2011, to revise the voting on the draft-law for assigning the Vice-Presidents in a single basket.   Iraqi President, Jalal Talabani, had presented a proposal to the Parliament on 7/2/2011, to adjust the draft-law on the Vice-Presidents posts, calling for the addition of a fourth candidate for the posts and the nomination of a Turkoman personality to occupy the post, but the Parliament had refused the proposal.   SKH (IT) 582
