Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi delegation participating in the 10th session of the Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, held in Atlanta, the United States, withdrew on Wednesday as Israel’s representative delivered his speech.

The Federal Commission of Integrity (COI) mentioned in a statement that Haider Hanoun, the head of the Iraqi delegation, left the conference after Israel’s representative started delivering his speech.

The statement added that the step took place according to directives issued by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani in solidarity with the Palestinian people and to denounce the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinians and the massacres against women and children in Gaza.

Hanoun, during his speech at the conference on Tuesday, called for ending the war and immediately delivering humanitarian aid to the besieged people in the Gaza Strip.

Hanoun, who is also the head of the COI, stressed the need to hold those responsible for war crimes in Gaza accountable in accordance with international laws.

Over 16,000 Palestinians have lost their lives as a result of Israeli bombardment since the conflict began on October 7 following a 1,200-person Hamas surprise strike on Israel.
