Al-Amal Society – IraqiNews.com organize training course for civil society – media activists.

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi al-Amal (Hope) Society, in cooperation with IraqiNews.com news agency, has organized a 5-day training course for a number of activists in civil society organizations in different Iraqi provinces, to boost their potentials to cooperate with the mass media and help them to reach a media strategy, sharing to help publicize the activities of their organizations.   “We have learned a lot, regarding information to deal with the media, through the first day of our course, comprising ideas related to projects and ideas, we are dealing with, but did not reckon their details,” the Chairman of Wassit Province’s Disabled Society, Habib Shaker Mahmoud told IraqiNews.com.   He said he had understood the rights and duties of the civil society activists, expecting that the course would raise his ability to write special reports and reportages, related to the activity of his organization.   Activist, Hiam Towfiq, working in the media section of the “Women for Peace Organization for Fighting Poverty,” said: “I had learned a lot about mass media from this course and got acquainted with a number of other organizations in Baghdad and other Iraqi Provinces, and this course had helped to boost my experience and enable me reach the related authorities and means to deal with them.”   The Instructor in the course, News Director in IraqiNews.com news agency, Hussein Mohammed Ajeel, said: “the course aims at boosting the potentials of activists in civil society in a number of southern Iraqi provinces, in order to reach a media strategy, helping them to address their recipients, directly or indirectly.”   “The course is concentrating on boosting the partnership of civil society organizations with the mass media, through helping them to understand the significance of the mass media, being a lively and active carrier of civil society activities and directing lights towards a broad sector of the public opinion in our country,” Ajeel said.   Ajeel stressed that the course was the second in the series of courses in different parts of Iraq , comprising details of the Iraqi media connection project, the independent IraqiNews.com news agency was planning to implement, along with Al-Amal (Hope) Society.   The project is designed to strengthen interaction between the media and civil society organizations, aimed at boosting understanding and communications, he said.   It also aims at the improvement of journalistic potentials, in the field of writing social reports and the investigation press, as well as raising the potential of the Iraqi civil society to jointly act with the press to prepare reports about society problems.   The project, that began in 2010 and scheduled to continue for 3 years, was organized by IraqiNews.com news agency, the Iraqi Al-Amal (Hope) Society and the French (Europe Inter-news Organization), supported by the European Union.   SKH (FT)
