Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Representatives from eight Iraqi professional military education institutions visited NATO Headquarters last week under the direction of Staff Lieutenant General Aqeel Al-Rammah, President of the Iraqi Defense University for Military Studies.

Within the auspices of NATO’s Defense Education Enhancement Program (DEEP), the visit was a part of their yearly evaluation of their defense education initiatives, according to the UK Defence Journal.

The university president was greeted by NATO Assistant Secretary General for Operations, Tom Goffus, who also emphasized the necessity of ongoing collaboration to bolster Iraq’s security forces and the mutually beneficial nature of the alliance.

Military experts from both sides evaluated the state of progress made toward achieving the 2022 goals pertaining to defense education.

The two parties also decided to create goals for 2024 and beyond after reviewing the domain-specific actions carried out in 2023.

Al-Rammah highlighted the significance of this routine inventory, indicating that NATO DEEP is an effective and dependable partner in helping the Iraqi Defense University develop and thrive.
