VP confers with U.S. Inspector-General activation of Strategic Treaty

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s Vice-President, Saleh al-Mutlaq has conferred in Baghdad on Monday with the Special U.S. Inspector-General for Iraq’s Reconstruction the activation of the Strategic U.S.-Iraqi Treaty and the mechanism of putting an end to the administrative and financial corruption. “Both sides discussed of activating the Strategic Treaty, signed between Baghdad and Washington, and the establishment of economic and development projects, as well as putting an end to the administrative and financial corruption, along with means for the activation of the Iraqi observation offices,” a statement by Mutlaq’s office pointed out. Mutlaq, the statement pointed out, “had reiterated the commitment of the American side to its duties, confirmed by international documents towards the Iraqi people, before and after the withdrawal of the U.S. military forces from Iraq, and the exchange of information, as well as opening the dossiers, hampering Iraq’s reconstruction.”   SKH (TI)/SR 597
