Iraq MP demands investigation about Interior Ministry fire last Friday

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Legislature for the so-called White al-Iraqiya bloc, Alia Nuseif, has demanded the Iraqi government and the Parliament to investigate the reason for the fire that broke out in the Interior Ministry’s building lat Friday, according to a statement by the bloc on Sunday.   “The unleashing of fires in Iraqi ministries have become a clear phenomena, due to fact that whenever fingers point out to the existence of corruption in a certain ministry, we wake up to see a fire set up in one of its parts,” Nuseif told IraqiNews.com news agency.   She expressed regret that “a media blackout has taken place towards the fire that broke out in the 11 th floor of the Interior Ministry at 04:00 pm, local time last Friday, 20/5/2011.”   “There are hints for the existence of financial and administrative corruption in the Interior Ministry; so, we demand the government and the Parliament to form a special committee to investigate the reasons for the fire that broke out in the Ministry’s 5 th floor, where its computers, containing important documents existed, especially that the fire broke out in timing with the appointment of a new interior minister,” Nuseif said.   Nuseif said in conclusion: “We don’t want an investigation, results of which would be a story talking about the existence of an electric fuse, as happened in the past, but we want the know the real causes and details of the said fire, to know whether it was an intentional or accidental incident.”   SKH (RT) 807
