Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Security Media Cell (ISMC) revealed on Saturday that security forces discovered an underground tunnel used by ISIS terrorist groups in western Nineveh.

The ISMC mentioned in a statement that Iraqi security forces conducted a search operation in western Nineveh where they discovered an 80-meter-long tunnel divided into two tunnels, each is 40 meters long.

The statement illustrated that the tunnel includes three rooms where ISIS terrorists were hiding ammunition and explosive devices.

The ISMC also announced the arrest of three terrorists in Baghdad and Anbar governorates.

The Iraqi Directorate of General Military Intelligence (DGMI) announced earlier in December the arrest of three terrorists belonging to ISIS in Baghdad and Anbar governorates, a week after the arrest of 16 ISIS terrorists in different Iraqi governorates.

The Joint Operations Command announced in late November that Air Force fighter jets carried out strikes against a hideout of ISIS terrorists in a mountainous area in Tuz Khurmatu in Salah Al-Din governorate.

Iraq announced in late 2017 the liberation of all its territories from the grip of ISIS, but the authorities are constantly launching security operations to pursue remnants of the terrorist group that carry out attacks from time to time in the country.
