South-Korean company signs contract for building 100,000 housing units in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq and the South-Korean Hanoa Company, have signed a contract in Baghdad on Wednesday, with the presence of Iraqi Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, for the building of 100,000 housing units in Baghdad .   “The signing of the contract took place on Wednesday night at the Iraqi Prime Minister’s office, for the Iraqi side, by the Chairman of the National Investment Commission, Sami al-Aaraji, and for the South-Korean side by the company’s representative, Hon Shong Kim,” the Iraqi Prime Minister’s office reported.   Prime Minister Maliki said after the signing of the contract: “We bless this meeting and hope that the execution of the project will take place in the nearest possible time, being part of the building of one million housing units, along with other major projects in different parts of Iraq .”   On his part, Aaraji said the signing of 100,000 housing units had been the beginning of implementing a project for building one million housing units in different parts of Iraq , agreed upon during the Iraqi Prime Minister’s recent visit for South Korea .   “The current project will be built in Baghdad ’s Basmaya area, with Baghdad Province ’s share to be 224,000 out of the one million housing units,” Aaraji said, adding that the project would be enough to house 600,000 citizens, along with all necessary services, to be given to the future inhabitants of the said housing compound,” Aaraji said.   The Representative of the South-Korean company said that work would begin, as soon as the proper area would be chosen for it in Baghdad Province .   SKH (RT)
