Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Security Media Cell (ISMC) announced on Sunday that four ISIS terrorists, including a leader, have been killed in an air strike in Diyala governorate.

The ISMC added that a leader in the terrorist group, called Majeed Mayouf, was among the four terrorists who were killed.

Security media said that the joint action by the security and intelligence services had a significant impact on curbing ISIS elements, warning that these elements would not be safe in Iraq.

The Joint Operations Command in Iraq said earlier on Sunday that the Iraqi Air Force directly targeted three sites of ISIS militants in Diyala governorate.

A statement issued by the Joint Operations Command said that the operation was carried out under the supervision of the Iraqi National Intelligence Service (INIS), which provided accurate information about the terrorists.

The Iraqi Directorate of General Military Intelligence (DGMI) announced earlier last month the arrest of three terrorists belonging to ISIS in Baghdad and Anbar governorates, a week after the arrest of 16 ISIS terrorists in different Iraqi governorates.

The Joint Operations Command announced in late November that Air Force fighter jets carried out strikes against a hideout of ISIS terrorists in a mountainous area in Tuz Khurmatu in Salah Al-Din governorate.

Iraq announced in late 2017 the liberation of all its territories from the grip of ISIS, but the authorities are constantly launching security operations to pursue remnants of the terrorist group that carry out attacks from time to time in the country.
