 Iraqi President discusses US-led coalition’s existence in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Rashid, confirmed on Tuesday that the war on Gaza negatively affected regional stability.

Rashid’s remarks took place during his meeting with the US Ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, and her accompanying delegation, where they discussed the latest security developments in Iraq and the region, according to a statement released by the Iraqi Presidency.

The Iraqi President addressed the situation of the international coalition forces in Iraq, indicating that their existence in the country must be limited to supporting Iraqi security forces in the areas of training and consultation provision.

Rashid also highlighted the importance of setting a specific work program for the international coalition forces.

The Iraqi President stated that Iraq is eager to establish balanced relations with neighboring countries and the world in a manner that benefits Iraq and the people of the region.

Rashid renewed Iraq’s unwavering stance on the Palestinian issue and the need to stop the Israeli aggression against the civilians in Gaza and other Palestinian cities.

The Iraqi President asserted that the war on Gaza had a negative impact on regional stability, calling on the international community and the United States to bear their responsibilities to stop the aggression against the Palestinians.

Romanowski emphasized the need to coordinate on issues of common concern in accordance with the strategic framework agreement between Iraq and the United States, noting the United States’ eagerness to maintain the security and stability of the region and its support for international efforts to end the war in Palestine.
