BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: At least 8 persons, including 4 officers and 2 policemen, have been killed and 4 others, including a woman, have been injured in 4 explosions in different parts of Baghdad on Sunday, a Baghdad security source said. “A group of unknown armed men have used silencer-pistols, in an attack late Saturday night on an Interior Ministry officer, while driving his car in southeastern Baghdad’s Maysaloun Square, with one of his lady relatives, killing him on the spot and wounding the woman, who was driven to a nearby hospital for treatment,” the security source told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said that a sticking explosive charge, attached to the Director of south Baghdad’s Madaen Nationality Certificates Office, Major Ali Hadi Hassan, blew off on Saturday night, also killing him on the spot. “A detainee in one of the Interior Ministry’s directorates in Baghdad had attacked a policeman on Saturday night, captured his weapon, killing him and attacking 3 officers, one a lt. Brigadier, another a major and the third a lieutenant, killing them all, before the police managed to kill him as well,” the security source said. He said that an explosive charge, planted on the roadside in southern Baghdad’s Daura District, blew off early Sunday, to kill one person and wounding 3 others, who were driven to Yarmouk Hospital for treatment. Noteworthy is that the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, had witnessed over the past few days, a series of attacks against Army, police and pro-government Sahwa (Awakening) organization elements, last of which had been wounding 8 Sahwa elements in Sab’e al-bour area, whilst 3 policemen were injured in an explosive charge blast, while trying to dismantle it in Daura’s Mechanics District on Saturday.
