Draft-law on International Agreement on Prevention of taking hostages, passed, official says.

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s State Minister and the Official Spokesman for its Government, Ali al-Dabbagh, has stated on Sunday that the Council of Ministers has approved the draft-law on Iraq’s Approval of the International Agreement to prevent taking Hostages, to be passed for final promulgation by the Parliament.   “The agreement on the draft-law for Iraq’s approval of the International Agreement to take hostages, signed on 14/10/1980 and implemented as from 3/6/1983, had been passed to the Parliament, stemming from the keenness of the Iraqi government to take active measures to prevent such acts,” Dabbagh said.   He said the draft-law “aims at the participation of the International Community to lay active measures to prevent all acts related to the crime of taking hostages and chasing elements, who execute it, being an act of international terrorism.”   SKH (ST) 437
