Al-Iraqiya won’t withdraw from government, its Legislature says
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Legislature of al-Iraqiya Coalition, Nabil Harbo, has said on Sunday that his Coalition won’t withdraw from the government, but its parliamentary bloc would not attend one of the Parliament’s sessions. “Al-Iraqiya’s choice is to stay in the government and won’t withdraw from it, and we shall practice pressure against the government to achieve our demands within the Parliament,” Harbo, a Turkoman, said, adding that his Coalition won’t attend one of the Parliament’s sessions. Harbo said that a meeting, held by al-Iraqiya and its leadership on Saturday, took place to revise its position, whether to stay in the government or withdraw from it, and it discussed the positive or passive impacts of such decision, along with discussing the Arbil Agreement, the National Council for Strategic Policies (NCSP). “(Prime Minister) Maliki can’t form a government of political majority, because there are divisions inside the National Coalition and the State of Law Coalition,” Harbo said, adding that al-Iraqiya would issue an official statement, to announce its position towards continuing its participation in the government,” he said. Al-Iraqiya Leader, Iyad Allawi, had launched a strong attack last Friday against the Leader of al-Daawa Party and Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, charging him with “lying, hypocrisy and deception,” and having depended on the foreigner and Iran to become prime Minister.” SKH (TR)/SR 621
