Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Spanish Foreign Ministry announced that the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jose Manuel Albares Bueno, will begin a Middle Eastern tour on Tuesday that includes Lebanon and Iraq.

The visits are intended to strengthen efforts to defuse the regional crisis and advance regional peace and security, according to a statement issued by the Spanish Foreign Ministry.

Bueno is expected to hold meetings with senior officials in both countries to discuss strategies to reduce regional escalation and achieve stability.

The Lebanese capital, Beirut, will be Beuno’s first stop, as he will meet with the Lebanese Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, and review the work of the Spanish forces operating within the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), as well as Lebanese non-governmental organizations in the country.

The capital, Baghdad, will be Beuno’s second stop, where he will meet with the Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Rashid, the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein, and Spanish military officials serving in the international coalition and the NATO Mission in Iraq (NMI).

The Spanish Foreign Minister will emphasize in his meetings how urgently an international peace conference must be held and the two-state solution must be put into effect.
