Syria appoints new ambassador in Iraq

Kirkuk-Kidnappers BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s Foreign Affairs Minister Hoshiyar Zebari on Monday received the copy of credential of the Syrian new ambassador in Iraq, according to a release issued by the Iraqi foreign ministry. “Zebari received the copy of credential of the Syrian new ambassador in Iraq, Nawaf Abod al-Sheikh Fariss, on today’s afternoon at Iraq’s foreign ministry’s building,” said the release that was received by IraqiNews.com. “Iraq wants to develop and strengthen the bases of mutual relations with Syria, and to take them up to a new stage of cooperation and combined coordination,” the release quoted Zebari. For his part, the Syrian ambassador stressed “the importance of discovering the different available fields of mutual cooperation, serving the interests of the Iraqi and Syrian peoples,” according to the release.
