PM Maliki, al-Iraqiya Leader Allawi hail Muqtada al-Sadr’s initiative to settle their crisis
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Legislature of Iraq’s Shiite Sadrist Trend, Ali al-Tamimi, has said on Saturday that both Leaders of the State of Law and al-Iraqiya Coalitions have highly assessed the initiative of the Sadrist Trend’s Leader, Muqtada al-Sadr, to settle their current crisis. “Sayid Muqtada al-Sadr, had contacted the State of Law ’s Leader, Nouri al-Maliki and al-Iraqiya Coalition’s Leader, Iyad Allawi, who both have highly assessed his initiative to settle their current crisis,” Ali-Tamimy told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said that al-Sadr’s initiative “has called on all political blocs to leave their party and personal differences aside, and accelerate the promulgation of the postponed laws, aimed at serving the interests of the citizens.” The political crisis, passing over the country since more than 14 months between the State of Law and al-Iraqiya Coalitions, that took place after the demonstrations that took place in central Baghdad’s al-Tahrir Square on 10/6/2011 and the demonstrations, that took place under the government’s patronage, demanding the execution of the criminals, who carried out a massacre in Dujeil township and accounting the politicians, charged with having been behind it, were considered by al-Iraqiya as having been pinpointed against the Coalition and its Leader, Iyad Allawi, as well as instigating the restoration of narrow-sectarianism, aimed at returning Iraq back to the years of tension – 2006 and 2007. But the crisis had entered a new phase after the statements by al-Iraqiya Leader, Iyad Allawi, in which he waged a strong attack against Prime minister Nouri al-Maliki and his al-Daawa Party, and warning against the policy of “forcing mouths to shut down and the emergence of a new dictatorship.” Maliki’s al-Daawa Party, on its part, had launched an immediate reaction, announcing to raise a judicial case against Allawi, charging him with accusing al-Daawa Party and its leaders, with “false accusations.” SKH (FT) 855
