Anbar – Military strikes hit positions held by pro-Iranian armed groups in western Iraq late Friday, particularly in the Al-Qaim sector on the border with neighbouring Syria, Iraqi security sources told AFP.
“A headquarters of the armed factions in the Al-Qaim area was targeted, according to preliminary information it was a small arms warehouse,” an interior ministry official told AFP.
An official from the Hashed al-Shaabi, a coalition of former paramilitaries, confirmed this strike and another bombardment targeting a position further south.
