Sadrist Trend confirms closeness to all parties

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Political Commission of Iraq’s Shiite Sadrist Trend has confirmed keenness to be close to all parties, in order to bring their viewpoints closer.   The Commission, in a statement, copy of which was received by IraqiNews.com news agency on Wednesday said that it had “called on all Iraqi politicians to cooperate among each other and shoulder responsibility to serve the Iraqi people, as the time of the ‘sole party and sole leader’ had gone forever.”   The Sadrist Trends Leader, Muqtada al-Sadr, had conferred with the Leader of the State of Law Coalition, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and the Leader of al-Iraqiya Coalition, Iyad Allawi, enjoying a great satisfaction for his initiative, calling on all political blocs to abandon their party and personal differences and accelerate the legislation of the laws that serve the interest of the citizens.   The political crisis had escalated since more than 4 months between the State of Law and al-Iraqiya Coalitions and in the background of the demonstrations that took place in central Baghdad’s al-Tahrir Square on June 10, 2011 and the counter demonstrations, believed to have been supported by the government, demanding the execution of the persons, who committed the so-called al-Dujeil massacre and the politicians behind it.   Al-Iraqiya Coalition had considered the said demands as part of a campaign against the Coalition and its Leader, Iyad Allawi, charging that it had encouraged sectarianism and aiming to restore Iraq to the atmosphere of tension that reigned over Iraq in 2006 and 2007.   The crisis had entered a new phase, following the statement of al-Iraqiya Leader, Iyad Allawi, in which he launched a strong attack against Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, charging him with having got Iran’s support to become prime minister and his al-Daawa Party elements, led by Maliki, with having been “vampires of darkness.”   Al-Daawa Party, in a quick reaction, had announced planning to raise a judicial case against Allawi, for his charges against the Party.   SKH (TF)/SR 643
