Political Blocs must uncover personalities inefficient to steer State, Iraqi Spokesman says

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq ’s State Minister and   its government’s Official Spokesman, Ali al-Dabbagh, on Thursday, has called for cooperation of all political blocs to remove the political cover of individuals and personalities, unable to steer the State.   Dabbagh’s call was part of an interview with the semi-official al-Iraqiya Satellite TV Channel, he gave after the speech of Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, in which he announced his final evaluation for the 100-day period he announced to achieve that.   “After the said evaluation, a real and transparent revision must take place for the cabinet ministries, away from political pressures and balances, because the main goal must concentrate on rendering services for the citizens,” Dabbagh said, adding that “passive shareholdings won’t succeed in rendering such services and achieve necessary construction.”   “There is no problem that any body becomes the candidate by political blocs, but under condition that he becomes competent, and not that those blocs chose an incompetent person for such a position he can’t steer,” he said.   As regards to the possibility for cooperation of the political blocs with the government to achieve necessary transformations, Dabbagh said: “There are positive signs by the leaderships of the political blocs , which we hope that such signs be genuine at the time of their implementation, taking into consideration necessity to keep the election percentages.”   “The blocs must not be unfair, because the government was formed on basis of percentage balancing, which we must keep, but let’s us cut short the ministries,” Dabbagh said.   He stressed that “the said step, was launched by the Prime Minister, in cooperation with the political blocs, without the existence of any opposition, whilst such measure was not addressed against a certain bloc, but everybody was covered by it.”   In conclusion, Dabbagh said that the open transmission of the Council of Minister sessions would continue, “as such serious mechanism would be followed by the Council of Ministers, the same way the Parliament sessions would be made public for the people to follow up and listen to the discussions, as it is necessary to reckon the mechanism of taking decisions by the Council of Ministers, and how to account their officials and ministers, stemming from the fact that each minister and official is linked by a certain time limit, over which his activity be based upon.”   SKH (FT)
