USAID donation to southern refineries company

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The head of the American consulate in Basra announced today that the US general consul Campbell signed on behalf of the USAID an agreement with the Southern Refineries Company to donate 502 thousand dollars to make an executive study to the rehabilitation of Basra refinery. The statement issued by the US embassy, copy received by IraqiNews.com, stated that the donation will help the general evaluation of the refinery and determine the engineering requirements and other prerequisites to develop it. It added that this agreement is within the strategic framework of cooperation on the basis of joint interests. The study will be conducted through the coming year, in addition to the preparation of 20 training programs to be supported by USAID in different fields, which are done since 2004. RM (TS)/SR 550
