All political blocs have commented on Parliament Speaker Nujeify’s call for Sunni Region, MP says

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Legislature of the National Coalition, Batoul Farouq, has said on Sunday that all political blocs, not only her Coalition, have commented on the statements of Iraq ’s Parliament Speaker, Usma al-Nujeify, who called for the establishment of a Sunni Region in Iraq .   “All political blocs have commented on Nujeify’s statements, calling for the split of the Sunnis and not only our Coalition, but the comments of al-Iraqiya Coalition had probably been stronger than our comment,” she said, adding that her Coalition “did not pretend to step up the campaign against Nujeify’s statements.”   She said that her Coalition had presented a 52 MP demand, calling for questioning of Nujeify by the Parliament, after his return from the United States , about the statements he had announced in America .   “The issue had been natural, and the Parliament’s Speaker had explained that he did not mean by his call the secession of the Sunnis and the issue had ended by that, whilst there had been no escalation on our part,” Farouq added.   The Legislature of al-Iraqiya Coalition, for whom Nujeify belongs, Ahmed al-Alwany, had stated that the State of Law Coalition , led by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, had been behind the media campaign against Nujeify, for “political reasons.”   SKH (IT)
