No demand for U.S. troops extension presented to Parliament, Speaker says

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq ’s Parliament Speaker, Usama al-Nujeify, has said on Sunday that no demand was presented to the Parliament on the extension of the presence of the U.S. troops in Iraq , adding that the special security report on the potential of the Iraqi security forces was not presented to the Parliament, either.   “The Parliament has not received any official demand by any party, calling for the extension of the presence of the American forces in Iraq,” Nujeify told a news conference on Sunday, adding that “the Parliament had not received the special security report on the potential of the Iraqi security forces to receive the security dossier after the U.S. troops withdrawal,” saying that “Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki had spoken about the topic in his press conference on Saturday.”   The Security Agreement, signed between Baghdad and Washington in 2008, the remaining 50,000 American troops were scheduled to withdraw from Iraq completely by the end of December next, after the withdrawal of the U.S. Combat troops last year.   SKH (IT) 902
