Baghdad calls for creating global coalition to combat drugs

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, called for creating a global coalition to combat drugs.
Al-Sudani’s remarks took place on Wednesday during his participation in the 3rd Summit for Democracy hosted by South Korea, with the participation of nine countries, according to a statement cited by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The Iraqi Prime Minister delivered a speech in the summit’s first session, which included only eight countries: Denmark, Sweden, Spain, Paraguay, Malawi, Latvia, Nepal, and Moldova, focusing on the support and empowerment of youth.
Al-Sudani explained that the previous regime plunged Iraq into senseless wars that negatively affected the Iraqi youth, indicating that youth represent 60 percent of Iraqi society.
The government created initiatives to harness youth energy in reconstructing Iraq after years of conflict with ISIS terrorist groups, according to Al-Sudani.
“The government formed last year the Supreme Council for Youth to be responsible for drawing up plans and programs and employing youth energies in Iraq,” the Iraqi Prime Minister stated.
Al-Sudani added that the Supreme Council for Youth has made a number of significant decisions that support giving young people actual opportunities.
