Plans to build more 800 schools – Ministry

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Ministry of Education announced today that it is preparing a plan to build and rehabilitate about 826 buildings for mud schools and semi-collapsing ones in Baghdad and other provinces.  Ministry’s spokesman Waleed Hassan told IraqiNews.com that the plan covers 410 mud schools and 416 semi-collapsing schools, in addition to building about 67.  For implementation period, the ministry granted eight months for mud schools, one year to build new ones.  He added that the ministry is planning to build 5000 schools in Baghdad and other provinces.  28 companies submitted their offers according to deferred payment basis, which shall be operated following the approval of the cabinet in order to cancel the dual  educational systems in some schools and minimize crowding classes.  RM (TS)/SR 449
