No right to violence if gov’t approves U.S. extension – Kurdish Alliance

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Spokesman of the Kurdish Alliance Mu’aiad Tayib said today that “no political entity should resort to armed action against the Americans, if the Iraqi government accepted an extension of some of these forces with the aim of training the Iraqi army.”  Tayib told IraqiNews.com that “al-Ahrar bloc has the right to object politically to any agreement, but to resort to violence is contrary to the constitution.”  Sadrist Trend  leader Muqtada al-Sadr issued a statement yesterday that the military wing of the Trend ( Mehdi Army) will resort to military action in case the government accepted the stay of the US forces.  Al-Sadr earlier warned that “armed struggle will begin if the U.S. forces remained in Iraq” following the date of withdrawal, which is the end of this year, according to the agreement signed between the two countries in 2008.  Iraqi political blocs authorized premier Nouri al-Maliki to negotiate with the United States on the forces question.  RM (TI)/SR   465
