Al-Sudani reviews his upcoming US visit’s agenda with US Ambassador

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, and the US Ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, reviewed on Monday the agenda of his upcoming visit to the United States, scheduled for mid-April.
Al-Sudani’s upcoming visit to the United States is part of the two countries’ ongoing efforts to strengthen their bilateral relations under the terms of the strategic framework agreement signed between the two sides, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The statement mentioned that the meeting addressed Iraqi-US relations and strategies to enhance cooperation in various economic and development fields.
Late in March, the White House announced that US President Joe Biden and Al-Sudani would meet on April 15 to talk about the deployment of US troops. This comes as tensions decreased following an exchange of attacks in Iraq between US soldiers and pro-Iranian militants.
The Prime Minister’s visit will be the first to the United States after taking office in October 2022.
Al-Sudani had previously demanded the withdrawal of US soldiers, which were repositioned over ten years ago in an effort to eliminate ISIS terrorists, who had taken control of large parts of both Iraq and Syria.
