Over 2.5 million signatures gathered on non-extension of U.S. troops presence in Iraq

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Over 2.5 million signatures have been gathered by Iraqi citizens, demanding the Iraqi government and Parliament to call on the U.S. forces to leave Iraq and non-extension of their presence in the country, calling on Political Leaders to “listen to the People’s voice, demanding the departure of the American forces and non-extension of their presence in the country.”   Iraqi Legislature, Maha al-Doury, told a news conference at the headquarters of the Iraqi Parliament, attended by IraqiNews.com news agency on Monday that “the millions signature campaign had gathered over 2.5 million signatures by citizens in different parts of Baghdad, demanding the Iraqi government and Parliament to confirm the departure of the American forces and non-extension of their presence, under any topic or cover.”   “The Parliament members should go the streets of their Provinces and areas to listen to the voices of the people, in order to gather millions of signatures to demand the departure of the American Forces,” she said, calling at the same time on all Political Leaders, scheduled to convene at the residence of Iraq’s President Jalal Talaban on Tuesday, to listen to the voice of the people, demanding the departure of the American forces and their non-extension.”   Noteworthy is that the Strategic Agreement, signed between Baghdad Washington , calls for the complete departure of the American forces from Iraq by the end of December this year.   SKH (IT)   1236
