Iraqi PM discusses with Stellar Energy speeding up power plants completion
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, met on Tuesday with the Chairman of Stellar Energy, Peter Gibson, in Washington DC to discuss electricity projects in Iraq.
The two sides talked about completing combined cycle power plants in Kirkuk and Sadr City more quickly, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The meeting addressed reducing carbon emissions, diversifying energy projects, and committing to project completion on schedule.
In a meeting with Gibson in September, Al-Sudani emphasized that increasing the output of combined cycle power plants is one of the important goals for the Iraqi government.
The Iraqi Prime Minister explained at that time that the government’s strategy involves providing additional facilities to companies engaged in the power and energy industries since this is an important sector on which other sectors rely.
Gibson reviewed the projects undertaken by Stellar Energy in the electricity sector.
Stellar Energy’s chairman reaffirmed his company’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations in Iraq as well as its willingness to increase electricity production and enhance electric power transmission in line with the increasing demand for electricity.
