Trade exchange between Iraq and Turkey rises to $20 billion

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, revealed on Monday that the volume of trade exchange between Iraq and Turkey had risen to $20 billion.
Erdogan’s remarks took place during a joint press conference with the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, where he affirmed his support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
“Iraq is a neighboring country with which we have many similarities,” Erdogan said. “We have the political will to enhance relations between Iraq and Turkey,” he added.
The Turkish President indicated that the agreements signed with Iraq represent a turning point in Ankara’s relations with Baghdad.
Erdogan pointed out that he reviewed security issues and combating terrorism with the Iraqi Prime Minister, pointing out that Ankara is ready to provide support to the Iraqi government in combating terrorism.
The Turkish leader stated that Turkey is determined to participate in the Development Road to stimulate commercial development.
The Turkish President affirmed that a Turkish-Iraqi committee has been formed to find a reasonable and scientific solution to the water issue.
Erdogan explained that he and Al-Sudani discussed creating a permanent committee to follow up on the water issue with Iraq, adding that he will visit the capital of the Kurdistan region of Iraq, Erbil, after concluding his visit to Baghdad.
