Iraq’s Integrity uncovers corruption dossiers in Baghdad Lord-Mayor’s office

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Baghdad’s Lord-Mayor, Saber al-Issawi, will be questioned by Iraq’s Integrity Commission soon, under charges that he had kept huge corruption dossiers related to his Mayoralty, according to a statement by the Political Commission of the Shiite al-Sadr Martyr Movement.   “The questioning of Saber al-Issawi shall take place during the forthcoming days,” the statement, by al-Ahrar Bloc belonging to the Martyr al-Sadr Movement, Jawad al-Shuheily stressed, charging that “Issawi keeps a large quantity of dossiers.”   Shuheily said that “Issawi’s questioning shall be among the most important and outstanding events in this respect.”   The Iraqi Parliament had summoned Issawi on June 16 th last to listen to the leading achievements and obstacles facing his Mayoralty’s services.   Noteworthy is that Issawi had submitted his resignation officially on March 3 rd to Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, in the background of the demonstrations that took place in Baghdad on Feb. 25 th , but Maliki refused to accept the resignation.   SKH (IT) 293
