Iraqi PM launches construction of Etihad Mills project in Babylon
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, launched on Thursday the construction of the Etihad Mills project in Babylon governorate in central Iraq.
The project, which has a production capacity of one million tons annually, is one of the private sector’s efforts to produce double-zero flour, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Finely ground flour, known as double-zero flour, is frequently used to produce pizza dough and pasta. The coarsest grind is two, while the finest is double zero.
Al-Sudani also officially opened the Etihad Company’s sugar plant expansion project after additional production lines were installed, increasing the facility’s production capacity from 4,200 tons per day to 6,000 tons per day.
Additionally, the Iraqi Prime Minister inaugurated the vegetable oil extraction plant, the feed production plant, and the premix (mixtures of vitamins, minerals, trace elements, and other feed additives) plant in the company.
Al-Sudani emphasized the government’s unlimited support for the private sector as it creates more job opportunities, noting that Etihad Company provides 4,000 employment opportunities.
The Iraqi Prime Minister urged entrepreneurs and private businesses to take advantage of the state’s sovereign guarantees and investment opportunities through the three-year budget law.
Etihad Food Industries Company was founded in 2012. It established the first and only sugar refinery in Iraq to this day. The company opened a plant in 2016 to refine vegetable oils. When the facility reached full capacity in 2017, it was producing 2,000 tons of refined vegetable oils every day.
