Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Rashid, announced that Iraq would host the next Arab summit after Syria relinquished its hosting role for the summit in favor of Iraq.

Rashid’s statement took place on Thursday during his speech at the 33rd summit of the Arab League held in the Bahraini capital, Manama, according to the Iraqi Presidency.

The Iraqi President thanked Syria for agreeing to allow Iraq to host the 34th regular session of the Arab League in 2025.

“We are patiently waiting to welcome our brothers to the capital, Baghdad,” Rashid said.

“We hope to always stand together in our words and positions to be able to face challenges and reach the future our people deserve,” the Iraqi President stated.

The activities of the 33rd summit of the Arab League were concluded in Bahrain.

The final statement of the Arab League’s summit called on the UN Security Council to implement its ceasefire resolutions in Gaza, deploy UN peacekeeping forces in the Palestinian territories, and work to establish a Palestinian state.

Earlier, the Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, called for coordinated Arab action to end the conflict in Gaza and clear the path for a Palestinian state based on the two-state solution.
