About 40 wanted men arrested, rockets, ammunition confiscated in Basra

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Southern Iraq’s Basra police have arrested 39 wanted men, among them one charged with terrorist acts and confiscated rocket and mortar shells, along with unlicensed vehicles, in security operations in different parts of the Province, Basra ’s Public Relations and Media office source reported on Sunday.   “The Basra police forces have carried out 22 inspection operations in different parts of the Province on Saturday, detaining 39 wanted persons, among them one, charged with having been involved in terrorist operations,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency.   He said the police forces have also uncovered 3 rockets, mortar shells of different sizes, along with 2 vehicles with no official documents.   “ Basra ’s al-Zubair police had also managed to uncover two mobile tanks, loaded with kerosene, along with an electric generator and an oil pump, all not carrying official documents,” he added.   Basra is 390 km to the south of Baghdad .   SKH (IT)   707
